[International] G7 Summit Leaders' Statement Opposes Unilateral Attempts to Change the Status Quo in the Taiwan Strait

Leaders attending the Group of Seven (G7) summit in France issued a leaders' statement on the second day of the meeting today (17th), mentioning the Middle East, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific region, and stating that they "oppose unilateral attempts to change the status quo in the East China Sea, South China Sea, and Taiwan Strait."
According to the Yomiuri Shimbun, the G7 leaders, in a statement titled "Geopolitical Issues," explicitly stated their support for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. They also mentioned that the UK and France are preparing to ensure navigation safety in the Strait of Hormuz through a multinational framework, evaluating it as "playing an important role in the normalization of the strait."
The leaders' statement also expressed pleasure with the agreement between the United States and Iran, emphasizing that it has "provided a historic opportunity to refuse Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons and development of missiles," indicating the G7's support for the implementation of the agreement.
Regarding Russia's continued aggression against Ukraine, the statement also pointed out the expansion of military aid to Ukraine and the strengthening of sanctions against Russia. In terms of military aid, the statement specified "agreement to strengthen air defense capabilities, supply interceptor missiles, and enhance long-range attack capabilities."
Furthermore, the statement, without naming specific countries but with clear implications towards China, stated, "The importance of a rule-based, free, and open Indo-Pacific. We reaffirm our opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo, especially by force or coercion in the East China Sea, South China Sea, and Taiwan Strait. These should only be resolved through dialogue and in a peaceful manner."
The leaders' statement also addressed North Korea's development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, stating their commitment to "achieve complete denuclearization of North Korea in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions" and demanding that North Korea promptly resolve the abduction issue.
The Yomiuri Shimbun analyzed that in the face of increasingly tense regional situations, the G7 intends to demonstrate unity.
