Major League Baseball (MLB) Detroit Tigers outfielder Lee Hao-yu started on the 16th, getting 2 hits in the game, including one double, contributing 1 RBI, and achieving two hits in two consecutive games; the Tigers ultimately lost to the Houston Astros 2-4.
In the game between the Tigers and the Astros, the Tigers' Taiwanese star Lee Hao-yu started batting 8th and playing second base; the Tigers had an offensive push in the 2nd inning. Spencer Torkelson walked to get on base. With 2 outs, Lee Hao-yu hit a single to left field, scoring the team's 1st run, but was thrown out trying to steal second base.
In the 5th inning, Lee Hao-yu hit an infield ground ball and reached base via a fielder's choice, but his teammates couldn't continue the rally; the Astros tied the game in the bottom of the 5th inning with a hit, a walk, and a passed ball.
In the top of the 8th inning, Lee Hao-yu faced Astros relief pitcher Bryan King and hit a deep double to left field on the second pitch. He advanced to third base on a ground ball and then scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly.
The Astros' offense reignited in the bottom of the 8th inning. With a hit, a fielder's choice, a walk, and a single by Raynel Delgado, they scored 2 runs to take the lead. They then scored a 4th run on a ground ball. The Tigers failed to score in the top of the 9th inning and suffered a loss.
Lee Hao-yu went 2-for-3 with two hits, including his 4th double of the season, contributing 1 RBI and scoring 1 run. He has now had two hits in two consecutive games. His batting average after the game was .239. (Editor: Chung Chin-lung)
