Media reported that an American source pointed out that KMT Chairwoman Cheng Li-wen, in a conversation with him, described shaking hands with CCP General Secretary Xi Jinping at the "Cheng-Xi meeting," feeling that Xi Jinping's hands were large and thick, and soft like clouds. In response, Mainland Affairs Council Minister Chiu Chui-cheng stated at the Legislative Yuan today (17th) that the relevant American personnel should be quite taken aback by Cheng Li-wen's statement, and that even people in mainland China would not believe it.
Chiu Chui-cheng: "(Original sound) Saying Xi Jinping's hands are warm, or that she said he is kind and gentle, I think the people of mainland China would not think so. Xi Jinping has been in power for 14 years. From their political and legal system, 7.2 million person-times of CCP party, government, and military personnel have been punished, and 416 centrally managed cadres, meaning vice-ministerial level and above, plus a comprehensive purge of the military. If you say he is a gentle and warm person, I think even people in mainland China would not believe it."
In addition, regarding the CCP's pressure on the Kenyan government to obstruct Taiwan's participation in this year's "Our Ocean Conference," Chiu Chui-cheng responded that Taiwan has continuously participated in the "Our Ocean Conference" since 2015 and has received affirmation and support from the international community. However, this time, Taiwanese scholars participating were actually locked in a fenced room for 24 hours. Such treatment clearly indicates suppression from behind. The MAC severely condemns the CCP for using crude political means to interfere with Taiwan's participation in international activities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ocean Affairs Council, and the MAC have all jointly condemned such actions.
