In the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Women's Tennis Asia/Oceania Group II event held in Malaysia, the Taiwanese team played their first group match against the host nation on the 16th. The 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Women's Tennis Asia/Oceania Group II event is divided into two groups, A and B. Each group will first compete in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will advance to cross-semifinals, with the winners earning a ticket to the Asia/Oceania Group I in 2027. Taiwan is in Group B with Malaysia, Laos, Uzbekistan, and Sri Lanka for the preliminary round.
The Taiwanese team, which had a bye on the first day, faced Malaysia on the 16th. In the first singles match, 19-year-old newcomer Wan Yi-yun, after being tied 4-4 in the first set, won eight consecutive games to comfortably take the match 6-4, 6-0.
The second singles match featured Yang Ya-yi. Although she briefly trailed 0-1 in the first set, she then won ten games in a row, ultimately securing an easy victory with a 6-1, 6-1 scoreline. With victories in the first two points, Taiwan had already defeated Malaysia.
In the third match, the women's doubles, Taiwan's "versatile queen" Hsieh Su-wei partnered with the in-form "little cannon" Liang En-shuo. Although the outcome of the match was no longer relevant to the overall tie, they still used the match to find their rhythm, winning 6-0, 6-1. (Editor: Chung Chin-lung)
