A flight attendant from EVA Airways Corporation passed away after returning to Taiwan, having worked while ill. The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced today (16th) that after an investigation, it was determined that EVA Air violated civil aviation law, resulting in a fine of NT$600,000 and a requirement for immediate improvement.
The flight attendant, surnamed Sun, performed duties on a flight route between Taiwan and Milan last September while ill. Her health deteriorated rapidly during the trip, and she passed away on October 10th after returning to Taiwan, bringing public attention to the flight attendant leave system.
According to the latest violation and penalty information released by the CAA, EVA Air was found to have violated Article 189, Paragraph 1 of the Civil Aviation Act's "Aircraft Flight Operations Management Rules," which falls under Article 41-1, Paragraph 2 of the Civil Aviation Act. The regulation states, "Aircraft operators shall establish and implement a cabin crew manual." EVA Air was fined NT$600,000 under civil aviation law and ordered to make immediate improvements.
