The 2026 Taiwan Creative Expo takes "Bit Zero" as its annual theme, questioning the origin of creation from the perspective of the generative AI era. The Ministry of Culture emphasizes that this year's expo will not only showcase the cultural and creative industries but also return to before the birth of 0 and 1, to rediscover the first thought that flashes in the creator's mind and the original cultural power.
The 2026 Taiwan Creative Expo will first launch cultural exhibitions from August 1st to 31st at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park, while the brand trade show will take place from August 6th to 12th at the Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1. On the 16th, the Ministry of Culture announced the annual theme "Bit Zero" and the main visual, declaring that in an era where generative AI is rapidly changing creative modes, the expo will return to the most primitive starting point of cultural creation.
This year also marks the expo's return to Huashan 1914. With the restoration of the historic buildings at Huashan 1914 completed, the Ministry of Culture hopes to gradually transform this century-old base into the "Huashan 1914 National Cultural Base" through the expo and a series of art activities, allowing the public to experience authentic experiences that cannot be digitally backed up in a historical space.
The Ministry of Culture points out that "Bit Zero" is not the 0 or 1 in computer programming, but a creative coordinate that does not exist in digital logic. When AI can generate a large amount of images and text in microseconds, what is truly precious is the first thought that flashes in the creator's mind before they press the switch – that is also the moment when culture and inspiration are born.
This year's cultural exhibition will invite the audience to return to this "moment of conception" together, to re-examine the irreplaceable creativity of humans in the AI era, and to allow culture to maintain a warm and vibrant life force in the cold world of bits.
The main visual was coordinated by J.U.S.T. Creative and co-created by Waiye Planning, with the concept of "Spellcrafting." It likens AI prompts to modern magic spells, presenting the moment of generation from virtual instructions to the real world through the process of text transforming into concrete forms.
The Ministry of Culture stated that this year's cultural exhibition will include outdoor landscapes, theme pavilions, local selected pavilions, and craft select shops, with an exhibition period of one month. The brand trade show will cover IP licensing, cultural and creative brands, "Black Tide Star Paradise," and the latest achievement of the Taiwan Creative Content Agency, "IP Reincarnation Manga House." It is hoped that the public will fully experience the new look of Taiwan's cultural creativity under the AI wave, from creation to industry to the market. (Editor: Shen Zhenjiang)
