[Life] The 50th Golden Tripod Awards Competition is Fierce, 90-Year-Old Huang Chun-ming Nominated Twice

The list of nominees for the 50th Golden Tripod Awards has been announced. 90-year-old writer Huang Chun-ming, who recently had an asteroid named after him by National Central University, has been nominated for the Literary Book Award and the Book Illustration Award for his novel "Mountain Grandpa" and his illustrated essay collection "Taiwan Grass Leaves Collection," respectively.
The Ministry of Culture stated that this year's Golden Tripod Awards received a total of 1,483 entries. After preliminary and secondary reviews, 108 works have been nominated. The winners are expected to be announced in July, with the awards ceremony to be held in late September.
Competition for this year's entries is fierce. In the Literary Book Award category, in addition to the heavyweight writer Huang Chun-ming, many award-winning works from the Taiwan Literature Golden Award, the Taipei International Book Fair Award, and the Openbook Award have also been nominated, such as Lin Chun-ying's "July Burning," Lian Ming-wei's "Gun, Strong, Rob, Choke," Han Li-chu's "Naked Mountain," and Ma Shih-fang's "Land of Songs."
In the Non-Literary Book Award category, Zhang Hui-ci's "Eldest Daughter's Illness," which has sparked much discussion, Yang Shuang-tzu's new work "Becoming the Second Generation," for which the author of "Taiwan Wanderer" publicly thanked her mentor scholar-writer Lan Pei-chia, and "Island of Great Winds," which records the Losheng Sanatorium by Xu Ya-ting, Zhang Xin-wen, and Huang Yong-guang, have all been nominated.
In the Children's and Young Adult Book Award category, Yu Mi-chen's "If You Were Sending a Message," which recently won the first Golden Picture Book Award, and "Donggu Shafi: The Boy of the Mountain, Di Ang" by Ni Kou-suo Ke Lu Man and Mao Yu, which won the Taipei International Book Fair Award, are competing in the same group.
In the Book Editing Award, Zhuang Rui-lin, the driving force behind "Taiwan Wanderer," has been nominated for her book "Traveling in the Treetops." She will compete for this award with Zhuang Shu-ching, the editor of "Chasing a Stream," another work from Spring Hill Publishing, and Wu Xiao-le, a writer who served as editor for "Them Who Thought No One Was Listening: Taiwan's First Anthology on Abortion."
In the Book Illustration Award category, in addition to Huang Chun-ming, Gao Peng-xiang, who won "The Most Beautiful Books in the World" organized by the German Leipzig Book Art Foundation this year, is also nominated for his award-winning book "The Era of Letterpress Printing in Taiwan." He will compete with Zhou Jian-xin, the illustrator of "Children from Qing Shui," for his "Grandpa's Days Paper," and Chen Pei-chih, who has been nominated twice for the Angoulême International Comics Festival's New Talent Award, for his work "When I Went to School."
In the magazine category, "Taiwan Mountain" magazine, after its relaunch, has been nominated for the fourth time this year. "Xunfeng" magazine, a multiple award winner, has once again been nominated for the Magazine Design Award. "Ren Jian Yu Poetry Life Magazine," a literary magazine that won an award last year, has also been consecutively nominated. Chu An-min, the recipient of the Special Contribution Award at the 45th Golden Tripod Awards, has been nominated for the Magazine Editor Award this year.
