Paraguay is an important ally of our country in South America. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today (18th) that Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Ming-chi, who is visiting Paraguay, accompanied by Paraguayan Deputy Minister of Public Works Emiliano Fernandez, inspected the "Electric Bus Pilot Project" jointly undertaken by Taiwan and Paraguay and experienced its actual operation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Taiwan and Paraguay will continue to promote smart transportation solutions in the spirit of mutual benefit and prosperity, assisting Paraguay in achieving its national goal of green transportation transformation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that when Chen Ming-chi took a ride, he asked for the thoughts of fellow passengers. The public expressed that they have been regularly taking the electric buses from Taiwan for their daily commute since their introduction, experiencing an unprecedented level of comfort from public transportation, and hope that they can continue to be introduced in Paraguay in the future.
Fernandez stated that Taiwan's electric buses have been widely praised by the Paraguayan public since they were put into operation. Features such as smooth operation, comfortable seats, air conditioning systems, and considerate accessible spaces have been particularly praised by users. The quiet and zero-emission electric buses have brought a brand new experience to the country's transportation development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the "Electric Bus Pilot Project" introduced 30 Taiwan-made electric buses under the strong promotion of Foreign Minister Joseph Wu in 2025. All of them were put into operation in March this year, and have already shown effectiveness in improving the quality of public transportation in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay.
