Liu Yang-wei, Chairman of the Electronic and Electrical Industries Association (EEWH Association) and Chairman of Foxconn, stated today (18th) that the EEWH Association plans to promote science parks in the United States, Mexico, Poland, and India, replicating Taiwan's experience with the "Science Park 3.0" model. Through policy support, industrial chain integration, and comprehensive living facilities, they aim to assist small, medium, and micro enterprises in expanding into international markets and building overseas industrial clusters. Concrete results from these plans are expected within one year. #CNA Reporter Cai Peng-min reports#
Liu Yang-wei pointed out that in the face of supply chain restructuring and geopolitical changes, the EEWH Association is actively promoting overseas science park development to strengthen Taiwan's key position in the global manufacturing supply chain and assist SMEs in expanding into overseas markets. He said: "(Original sound) The achievements of Taiwan's science parks are evident to all. Every country knows that Taiwan's science parks are doing very, very well. We hope to establish the practices of Taiwan's science parks in other countries, thereby helping small and medium-sized enterprises to go global."
The EEWH Association plans to promote science parks in multiple locations. In the United States, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has already been signed with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, entrusting the association with the promotion of local science park construction. Currently, Arizona and Texas have been selected. Mexico and Poland are also in the planning stages. Regarding the Indian market, personnel are expected to be dispatched for inspection within the next 1 to 2 months. Regarding the timeline for park construction, Liu Yang-wei indicated that concrete progress is expected within one year, with phased results possibly by the end of this year.
Liu Yang-wei stated that when negotiating cooperation with various governments, the EEWH Association is based on three core principles. Firstly, enterprises within the park, regardless of size, will enjoy consistent policy benefits, avoiding resource disparities between large and small enterprises. Secondly, the park must have a stable market and industrial chain integration to help resident enterprises quickly secure orders and business opportunities. Thirdly, local living facilities need to be comparable to Taiwan's standards, including residential environment, educational resources, and food culture, to enhance the willingness of Taiwanese businesses and talent to settle long-term.
He added that one of the core goals of Science Park 3.0 is to help SMEs seamlessly integrate into the local market. After enterprises move in, they will not need to spend a lot of time dealing with policies and regulations, permit applications, or communication with local governments, as the park will handle these matters uniformly. This will lower the threshold for overseas expansion and create a new generation of science park models. (Editor: Xu Jia-yuan)
