Under the supervision of Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, the outgoing president of Academia Sinica, Liao Chun-chih, handed over the seal of office to Chen Chien-jen. Former President Tsai Ing-wen, former president Lee Yuan-tseh, and others attended the handover ceremony. In his speech, Chen Chien-jen pointed out that Academia Sinica will celebrate its centenary in 2028. In the future, he will lead Academia Sinica in five major directions: First, continue to pursue academic excellence while avoiding research being constrained by short-term performance; Second, build a top research institution in the Asia-Pacific, allowing Taiwan to play a role as an advocate and leader in the global academic network; Third, respond to national and global challenges, including low birth rates, aging populations, climate change, and energy transition; Fourth, promote knowledge inheritance and public communication; Fifth, establish a responsible artificial intelligence and data governance system, making Taiwan a model for AI research and governance. Chen Chien-jen mentioned the recent international attention on artificial intelligence ethics and emphasized that technological development should balance human rights and social trust, ensuring that everyone can benefit from AI. He said: '(Original sound) Let the application of AI not be a technology owned by a few inventors or a few dictators, but rather the benefits of AI should be enjoyed by the whole world and all humanity, and AI technology should be used responsibly and with good governance to enhance human well-being.' At the end of the ceremony, Liao Chun-chih presented a gift to Chen Chien-jen: a box of danzai noodles. He said it symbolized handing over the 'burden' of Academia Sinica to Chen Chien-jen, which drew laughter from the audience.
