Regarding the matter of a Taipei kindergarten teaching songs celebrating the CCP's anniversary, the Taipei City Department of Education stated it was a misunderstanding. Liang Wen-chieh, Deputy Minister and Spokesperson of the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC), said today (18th) that the Taipei City Department of Education should review the matter again, because regardless of which version of the song "Light Up the Future" is used, it was created for the CCP's anniversary celebrations.
A netizen claimed that the kindergarten their child attends teaches songs commemorating the 100th anniversary of the CCP's founding. The Taipei City Department of Education previously stated that after receiving a complaint transferred from the National Education Administration in May, they immediately clarified the facts according to procedure. They confirmed that this kindergarten did indeed select "Light Up the Future" sung by Li Xinrong as a graduation song. However, the CCP anniversary song is "Light Up the Future" sung by Gong Jun and others. The lyrics, composers, and singers of the two songs are all different, thus deeming the case a "misunderstanding complaint."
Liang Wen-chieh said at a regular press conference today that the MAC received a public complaint stating that a kindergarten was teaching this song at its graduation ceremony. According to the information provided by the complainant, this song was sung by Li Xinrong in 2021. If one checks Baidu Baike, it clearly states that "Light Up the Future" was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, aiming to let listeners understand that the CCP is like an unextinguishable lighthouse.
Liang Wen-chieh said that the MAC handed the matter over to the Ministry of Education and the Taipei City Government for investigation, and the Taipei City Government responded that it was a false report. However, in reality, although the lyrics, creators, and singers of these two songs are different, they share the same name and were both created for the CCP's centenary celebration.
Liang Wen-chieh stated that the Taipei City Government should be reminded that regardless of which version of "Light Up the Future" is used, it is a song that praises the CCP. He emphasized again that without someone pointing it out, frontline teachers would not know the meaning behind these songs. "If someone reports it, then one should correct their mistakes; it's that simple, no need for debate." He hopes the Taipei City Department of Education will review it again, as either version is unsuitable for young children in Taiwanese kindergartens to sing. (Editor: Shen Chen-chiang)
