The Taipei City Disaster Prevention and Relief Office stated that as of 5:30 PM today, a total of 91 disaster reports have been received. 75 of these were caused by instantaneous flooding due to short-duration heavy rainfall. Most have been resolved as the rain subsided, with 26 still being processed.
The Disaster Prevention Office reported that the maximum hourly rainfall in the afternoon was at the National Taiwan University station in Daan District, reaching 96 mm, followed by the Fude station in Shilin District at 87.5 mm, Sanxing Elementary School station in Xinyi District at 86.5 mm, and Taipei station in Zhongzheng District at 84.5 mm.
Cumulative rainfall between 1 PM and 5 PM was sequentially recorded at the National Taiwan University station in Daan District at 147 mm, Xinghua Elementary School station in Wenshan District at 146 mm, and Sanxing Elementary School in Xinyi District at 138 mm.
New Taipei City also experienced heavy rainfall in the afternoon, prompting the New Taipei City Government to activate a Level 3 emergency response. The Water Resources Bureau reported that Yonghe District received 58 mm of rain in half an hour, causing flooding on roads like Guoguang Road and Zhulin Road due to inadequate drainage. The flooding subsided within 15 minutes after the heavy rain eased, with water receding around 3:45 PM. Additionally, a landslide occurred on the road in front of the Hanyancui community in Xindian, causing several cars and motorcycles to fall and be damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties. The police have cordoned off Xinpo 1st Street, and relevant units are urgently dispatching personnel for repairs.
Scene footage shows a large amount of soil and rocks sliding down, with several cars suspended precariously on the slope, creating a shocking scene. The New Taipei Public Works Bureau stated that their team has immediately gone to the scene to assess the situation.
The Xindian Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department reported that upon receiving the report, officers immediately rushed to the scene and found that a landslide had occurred on Xinpo 1st Street, resulting in the damage and fall of 4 motorcycles and 1 car. There were no injuries.
Police stated that because the road is a U-shaped uphill section, the fallen debris has affected the driving safety of vehicles. Therefore, Xinpo 1st Street has been temporarily closed off with a cordon. Vehicles are accessing the community via Changchun Road, and personnel from the Jingmei Public Works Section have been notified to handle the situation. (Editor: Liao Yiting)
