The budget limit is NT$210 billion, and various types of unmanned aerial vehicles, including coastal attack drones, will be procured annually from August this year to the end of 2031. Kuomintang legislators have successively expressed their support and have not ruled out proposing their own related ordinance drafts, extending the drone issue into local election campaigns. Li Sichuan, a candidate for New Taipei City Mayor from the Kuomintang, stated in a press release on the 18th that New Taipei City has 52 key drone manufacturers. If elected, he will fully support local businesses in their technological research and development and production to build a complete drone industry chain. On the 19th, Li Sichuan reiterated his support for the special drone ordinance in an interview before attending the opening ceremony of the 16th Mayor's Cup Dragon Boat Championship in New Taipei City. Li Sichuan said: "(Original sound) Our campaign office also issued a press release yesterday, and I absolutely support the development of New Taipei's drone industry." Su Chiao-hui, a candidate for New Taipei City Mayor from the Democratic Progressive Party, attended the Sanxia Old Street Creative Dragon Boat Race on the 19th. Regarding the Kuomintang's call to propose its own drone ordinance, but with no version seen, she expressed her pleasure in seeing cross-party support for national defense security and her hope that when relevant budgets are submitted to the Legislative Yuan, both ruling and opposition parties can jointly protect Taiwan. Su Chiao-hui said: "(Original sound) Therefore, I believe national defense security should be supported by all parties. When the budget goes to the Legislative Yuan, I hope everyone, regardless of party affiliation, will jointly support and protect Taiwan's democracy, freedom, and security." In addition, Li Sichuan and Su Chiao-hui's local itineraries have overlapped multiple times recently. Li Sichuan visited Yingge twice in five days, which was interpreted by some as an attempt to poach supporters. Li Sichuan responded that all 29 districts of New Taipei are his home turf, and he will interact with the public repeatedly in every place, which is normal. Su Chiao-hui stated that she has served as the legislator for the Shulin, Yingge, and Xinzhuang constituency for 10 years, completing numerous local construction projects and enabling Yingge to continue progressing. She believes the local residents have seen her efforts and that she will continue to work with the same dedication to make every district in New Taipei better.
