Paraguayan President Arrives in Taiwan; Lin Chia-lung Welcomes Him at the Airport

Santiago Pena, President of the South American ally Paraguay, arrived in Taiwan early this morning (the 7th) for a state visit. Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung met him at the airport and expressed a sincere welcome on behalf of President Lai Ching-te and the people of Taiwan. Lin Chia-lung stated on social media that he led a delegation to visit Paraguay last July, where he met with President Pena and other Paraguayan officials to understand the progress of bilateral cooperation projects. Welcoming President Pena and his delegation in Taiwan today provides an opportunity to continue the cooperation initiated after last year's visit and to exchange further views on upcoming bilateral exchanges. Lin noted that Paraguay has long supported Taiwan's international participation, for which Taiwan is deeply grateful. During this state visit, both sides will engage in in-depth discussions on cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, education, healthcare, technology, and smart transportation.
