Taiwanese professional women's golf player Hsu Wei-ling, on the first round of the LPGA Meijer Classic on the 18th, made 5 birdies and 2 bogeys, scoring a 69, 3 under par, temporarily tying for 12th place, 3 strokes behind the leader.
Swing Returning to Form
The LPGA Meijer Classic, with a total prize of $3.25 million (approximately NT$102 million), kicked off in Michigan, USA. Taiwan has three participants: Yani Tseng, Hsu Wei-ling, and Cheng Ssu-chia.
Hsu Wei-ling was the only Taiwanese player to make the cut in the LPGA DOW Championship last week as part of a pair. Returning to individual play this week, her performance in the first round of the Meijer Classic was not bad. Although she bogeyed the first hole, she immediately birdied the second hole to compensate.
She then birdied the par-3 7th hole and continued to birdie the 14th hole after the turn. Coming to the final three holes, although Hsu Wei-ling bogeyed the 16th hole, she successfully birdied the last two holes, ending perfectly.
Yani Tseng on the Cut Line
Hsu Wei-ling told reporters that her swing has been gradually improving recently, and she is regaining her feel for the game. She hopes to continue improving over the next three days and finish according to her planned strategy.
Besides Hsu Wei-ling, Yani Tseng scored a 74 and Cheng Ssu-chia scored a 77. Both are currently in danger of missing the cut and need to lower their scores to advance on the 19th. After the first round, China's Liu Yan leads with a 66.
