The plum rain front has brought considerable water storage to reservoirs across Taiwan. The Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs stated on the 18th that many reservoirs in the central and northern regions are nearing full capacity, and the water situation in the central and southern regions continues to improve. It is estimated that civilian and industrial water supply will be secure until the end of September. With the recovery of reservoir water levels in the southern region, the irrigation conditions for the second rice crop in the Chia-Nan area are also gradually improving.

According to information from the Water Resources Agency, the water storage of major reservoirs across Taiwan has significantly increased. Many reservoirs in the central and northern regions have reached over 80% capacity, with the Shihmen Reservoir at 95% capacity and Baoshan Second Reservoir at full capacity. In the south, the Tsengwen Reservoir has a water storage rate of over 40%.
Wang Yi-feng, deputy director of the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, said that the period from May to November each year is Taiwan's flood season, which includes afternoon thunderstorms and rainfall brought by typhoons. Affected by the recent plum rain, most reservoirs have seen a significant increase in water storage, especially in the central and northern regions where they are nearing full capacity. It is estimated that civilian and industrial water supply can be stably provided until the end of September. He said: "(Original sound) The period from May to November each year is the flood season, with afternoon thunderstorms and typhoons. The rainfall brought by this wave of plum rain to Taiwan has already allowed most reservoirs, especially those in the central and northern regions, to be close to full capacity. There are also many reservoirs in the central and southern regions, and it is estimated that water for industry and civilian use can be stably supplied before September."
He stated that several recent rainfall events have effectively replenished reservoir water storage, and there are still afternoon thunderstorms in the coming days. The Central Weather Administration also predicts another wave of plum rain next week, which will help continue to improve the water situation in the south. Currently, the water storage rates of the Tsengwen and Wushantou reservoirs continue to rise. The Water Resources Agency is also increasing water storage by diverting water from the Nanhua Reservoir and the Kaoping River, and sending water back to the Wushantou Reservoir.
Wang Yi-feng pointed out that as the water situation gradually improves, the irrigation conditions for the second rice crop are also continuously improving. The first and second groups of the Chia-Nan irrigation area have begun irrigation. Whether the third to sixth groups will be irrigated will be reviewed by the Water Resources Agency based on subsequent rainfall and reservoir water storage status.
