American professional baseball player Li Hao-yu, a Taiwanese talent for the Detroit Tigers, had 1 hit in 3 at-bats today (20th). He also showcased a spectacular backward catch on defense. Since returning to Major League Baseball (MLB), he has recorded 6 hits in 5 games, indicating he is in hot form. The Tigers also defeated the White Sox 4-3.
Li Hao-yu started as the 7th batter and second baseman. In his first at-bat in the bottom of the 2nd inning, he hit a single off right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde. He later grounded out in the bottom of the 4th and struck out in the bottom of the 6th, ending the game with a batting average of .235. Since his return to MLB on June 14th Taiwan time, Li Hao-yu has accumulated 6 hits in 15 at-bats.
Today, he not only continued his hitting streak but also made a difficult defensive play in the top of the 2nd inning. Facing a fly ball hit towards the outfield by Edgar Quero, Li Hao-yu, playing second base, quickly ran backward and made a stable catch, executing a high-difficulty defensive gem. In the top of the 8th, he also showed good chemistry with his teammates, executing a double play.
The Tigers conceded a run in the top of the 1st. Matt Vierling's 2-run homer in the bottom of the 1st gave them a temporary lead. However, they fell behind 2-3 after giving up runs in the 5th and 6th innings. Fortunately, Kerry Carpenter's 2-run double in the bottom of the 6th regained the lead, helping the team secure the victory. (Editor: Liu Xiang-hua)
