Tensions in the Middle East have eased, and although subsequent developments need attention, the pressure of rising energy prices has lessened. CPC Corporation, Taiwan announced today (20th) that from midnight on the 22nd to midnight on the 28th, gasoline and diesel prices will be reduced by NT$1 and NT$0.7 respectively.
CPC stated that from June 22nd to June 28th, the reference retail prices for various oil products are NT$31.4 per liter for 92 unleaded gasoline, NT$32.9 per liter for 95 unleaded gasoline, NT$34.9 per liter for 98 unleaded gasoline, and NT$30.3 per liter for super diesel.
A CPC press release indicated that the US and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding with a 60-day consultation period. Although international oil prices have fallen, the situation in the Middle East still needs to be observed. Considering that CPC's accumulated absorption for gasoline and diesel from February 28th to June 21st is estimated to have reached NT$17.7 billion, and neighboring Asian countries like Japan and South Korea did not lower oil prices this week, after overall evaluation, the government has expanded the reduction of commodity tax, absorbing NT$3.7 for gasoline and NT$2.1 for diesel. From June 22nd to June 28th, domestic gasoline and diesel prices will be reduced by NT$1 and NT$0.7 respectively. (Editor: Liu Xianghua)
