Huang Chih-fang, Chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), visited the UNBROKEN medical complex in Ukraine on the 19th. He pointed out that the "Taiwan Friendship Building," donated by Taiwan, has recently been completed within the complex. The next step is to introduce good medical technology and services. TAITRA will act as a platform to bring in more Taiwanese medical resources and link Taiwanese teaching hospitals with Ukraine for cooperation, allowing Taiwan's various smart healthcare solutions to advance into Ukraine. #Listen to reporter Hsieh Chia-hsing's report from Lviv, Ukraine#
The UNBROKEN medical complex in Lviv, Ukraine, is a national-level project supported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health and led by the Lviv City Council. It includes a general hospital, children's hospital, rehabilitation center, surgical building, and prosthetics factory, dedicated to providing comprehensive war injury medical care and post-operative rehabilitation services. It is highly renowned locally, having successfully treated over 940,000 patients to date.
The "Taiwan Friendship Building," renovated with Taiwanese funding, is located on the west side of the complex. It was completed on June 11th and will introduce diverse medical specialties, offering physical therapy and prosthetic fitting. It is expected to be operational by the end of the year, capable of treating 13,000 patients simultaneously.

Huang Chih-fang specifically visited the complex on the 19th. He said that the UNBROKEN complex has a complete medical ecosystem, including medical treatment, care, rehabilitation, and psychological therapy. The term UNBROKEN represents the indomitable and unbreakable spirit of the Ukrainian nation.
Huang Chih-fang pointed out that since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022, Taiwanese society, from the government to the public, has shown great concern and goodwill towards Ukraine. The public has been almost fully mobilized. For example, Mackay Memorial Hospital has organized medical mission teams to provide free medical services in Ukraine seven times, and many other large hospitals have also come to offer assistance. Numerous private charitable organizations have also mobilized their efforts, and the government has provided substantial aid. The Taiwan Friendship Building, for instance, is the most direct assistance provided by the Taiwanese government to Lviv and a milestone of Taiwanese compassion. He believes that Taiwan's donations to Ukraine will continue in the future, and TAITRA will subsequently act as a platform to introduce Taiwanese medical resources into the complex, including smart healthcare technologies and solutions, and medical services. He believes this is the most impactful form of cooperation for Ukraine's government and people.
Huang Chih-fang said: "(Original sound) After the hardware construction, the next more important step is to introduce good medical technology and medical services, which is Taiwan's strength. Next week, TAITRA will hold the Medical Taiwan exhibition in Taipei. Through Medical Taiwan, we have good cooperative relationships with these major hospitals and biotechnology companies in Taiwan. Therefore, we will continue to play a platform role to introduce more Taiwanese medical support to support the UNBROKEN complex."

Yaroslav Zelizko, Deputy Director of the UNBROKEN Rehabilitation Center, stated that over 95% of patients come from different regions of Ukraine, with less than 5% being local patients from Lviv. The center treats all patients equally and provides necessary medical care for all foreign members who have joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, for the subsequent construction and operation of the complex, in addition to funding, assistance is also needed in personnel training, education, and medical equipment. He hopes to receive support from people around the world. (Editor: Liu Hsiang-hua)
