In the WB Boxing Cup China leg held in Guiyang, "Taiwan's Daughter" Lin Yu-ting defeated the host fighter and former World Championships gold medalist Yang Chen-yu 4-1 in the 60kg semi-final today (20th), and will be seeking her first gold medal after returning to international competition. After winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting chose to switch to the women's 60kg category. However, due to the unclear new gender testing regulations from the International Boxing Association, she had a "gap period" of 19 months without competition. This is only her second international match after changing weight classes; the previous one was the Asian Championships in April, where Lin Yu-ting reached the semi-finals and won a bronze medal. This time, participating in the WB Boxing Cup in China as the sole Taiwanese representative, Lin Yu-ting faced the 31-year-old local favorite Yang Chen-yu in the semi-final today. After the first round began, she quickly took control of the rhythm, leveraging her height and speed advantage, earning the approval of four judges. Even though she was slightly at a disadvantage in the second and third rounds, Lin Yu-ting withstood the pressure and advanced to the final with a 4-1 victory. Lin Yu-ting has successfully set a record by reaching the WB Boxing Cup final for the first time after switching weight classes. She will face the 24-year-old Kazakh rising star Viktoriya Grafeyeva, a bronze medalist at last year's World Championships, tomorrow, seeking her first gold medal since returning to the international stage. Coach Tseng Tzu-chiang assessed in an interview that this semi-final could be considered a "prelude to the Asian Games," as the four competitors are likely to face each other again at the Nagoya Asian Games. He noted that after moving up a weight class, Lin Yu-ting felt more challenged by her stamina, but fortunately, her speed and rhythm control were still well-executed. He praised his protégé for withstanding the pressure but added that she needs to improve her combat effectiveness for more consistent performance.
