The WB Cup China Open, organized by the World Boxing Federation, concluded its women's 60kg final today (21st). Taiwanese star Lin Yu-ting faced Kazakh newcomer Viktoriya Grafeyeva and was knocked down in the 3rd round, ultimately losing 2-3. Coach Tseng Tzu-chiang admitted that her stamina needs further improvement. Lin Yu-ting successfully advanced through three rounds to reach the final. In today's gold medal match, the two fighters displayed contrasting styles. Lin Yu-ting excelled in mid-to-long range fighting with timely counter-attacks, while Grafeyeva employed a close-quarters, aggressive style. After the first round, Lin Yu-ting received a unanimous 10 from all five judges. In the second round, Grafeyeva increased the pressure and pace, forcing Lin Yu-ting from an offensive to a defensive stance, expending significant energy on defense. She maintained a lead after the first two rounds. In the crucial final round, Lin Yu-ting's stamina appeared to be affected. With 1 minute and 38 seconds remaining, she was hit in the head, leading to a knockdown count by the referee. Consequently, all five judges awarded the round to her opponent, resulting in Lin Yu-ting suffering a comeback defeat. Coach Tseng Tzu-chiang stated that since Lin Yu-ting moved up to the 60kg class, her opponents have greater power, leading to faster stamina depletion. "The semi-final against Yang Cheng-yu was very intense, and her stamina didn't recover in time for today's match. In the third round, it was evident she was lost in the ring for a period, allowing her opponent to gain the advantage." Tseng Tzu-chiang revealed that these two international competitions show that if opponents fight conventionally with technique, Lin Yu-ting always has an advantage. "So now, opponents basically resort to close-range brawling, exhausting Yu-ting's stamina, or forcing her into fouls. We need to re-evaluate our strategies for this upon returning." Tseng Tzu-chiang pointed out that not winning gold is not necessarily a bad thing. It's clear that Lin Yu-ting has room for improvement in her fighting spirit and may need to train more with male boxers. The current plan is to train in Korea in August before the Asian Games and then go to Japan in September for final adjustments.
