Taitung County Magistrate Rao Qingling recently participated in the Cross-Strait Forum by pre-recorded video to promote pineapple and sugar apple. The Mainland Affairs Council stated that the Cross-Strait Forum is a large-scale united front platform organized by the CCP, and will therefore investigate and deal with it according to law. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an supported Rao Qingling when attending an event on the 20th, criticizing the Mainland Affairs Council for disregarding the livelihoods of Taiwanese farmers and vowing to use votes at the end of the year to tell the DPP that they will never accept political means to harm Taiwanese farmers.
DPP Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang, interviewed while visiting Taipei Hulu Temple for worship on the 21st, said that Taiwanese farmers grow a wide variety of excellent fruits, and these fruits need to be marketed. Whether it is a central or local chief executive, they should market these fruits to places without political preconditions. He said: "(Original sound) So today, the government's attitude, whether it is the central or local government, hopes to market these fruits to places without political preconditions, so that farmers can make a lot of money. If they are then accused of political manipulation, I think it is very clear who is protecting farmers."
Chiang Wan-an, interviewed at the award ceremony for the Mayor's Award for elementary school graduates on the 21st, retorted, emphasizing that Rao Qingling was striving for orders for farmers, and what does this have to do with the united front? He said: "(Original sound) Taitung County Magistrate Rao Qingling used a video talk this time, and she spoke out for the livelihood of farmers and strived for orders. There is no problem with this at all. What does it have to do with the united front? And this is what a local chief executive should do, so I completely cannot accept the Mainland Affairs Council using this reason to investigate her."
In addition, KMT Chairman Johnny Chiang stated after returning to Taiwan from a visit to the United States that the KMT caucus will study and propose its own version of the drone bill. In response, Shen Po-yang pointed out that the drone industry can not only defend the country but also drive traditional industries and contribute to economic growth. He does not understand why the KMT has always refused to pass the budget for the drone-related industry since the military purchase case was proposed last year, and is stubbornly opposing traditional industries and more than 90,000 jobs.
Chiang Wan-an said that the drone industry is a crucial industry for Taiwan in the next era. It not only meets the needs of the defense industry but is also a very important opportunity for Taiwan's technology industry to enter the international market. Regarding the KMT caucus's proposal of its own version, the Legislative Yuan should discuss it thoroughly from the perspectives of national security, industrial development, and financial responsibility. He will also fully support it.
On the other hand, when asked if he would invite Johnny Chiang to campaign for him, Chiang Wan-an did not respond directly, only saying that he respected the arrangements of the party chairman, which was interpreted by the outside world as fearing that it would affect the election. Shen Po-yang said that Chiang Wan-an's stance and attitude on blocking military purchases, the pineapple and sugar apple incident, and the Cross-Strait City Forum have always been no different from Johnny Chiang's, but Chiang Wan-an's avoidance of Johnny Chiang campaigning for him makes him very confused. Chiang Wan-an responded, didn't Shen Po-yang say he was going to Beijing for an exchange? "They should have many common topics." (Editor: Hsu Chia-yuan)
