The Meteorological Agency reminds that today (22nd), 13 cities and counties including Greater Taipei are at risk of high temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius. Weather expert Wu Der-rong stated that before the 24th, various regions will continue to be sunny and hot, reaching up to 38 degrees; Typhoon Mikala is predicted to turn north tomorrow (23rd) and move north along the east coast of Taiwan on the 24th and 25th, maintaining a safe distance. The Central Meteorological Agency issued a high-temperature advisory, stating that the weather is hot everywhere. During the day today, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Tainan City, Pingtung County, and Hualien County will be under an orange alert, with a chance of continuous high temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius. Keelung City, Taoyuan City, Taichung City, Chiayi County, and Kaohsiung City will be under a yellow alert, with attention to high temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius. Wu Der-rong, an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at National Central University, stated in the "Heavenly Secrets Revealed Classroom" column of the Weather Application Promotion Foundation that the latest European model simulation shows that from today to the 24th, the Pacific high-pressure system will cover the area, and it will continue to be sunny and hot like midsummer across the island, with the highest temperature reaching above 38 degrees Celsius. Sun protection and heatstroke prevention are necessary. Wu Der-rong said that the latest model simulation shows that on the 25th, moisture will increase, and the weather will become unstable, with a possibility of localized brief showers and convective development in the afternoon. On the 26th and 27th, the last cold front of the plum rain season will approach, and the southwest monsoon will strengthen, bringing rainfall and heavier showers in the afternoon, with a slight drop in temperature. From June 28th to July 1st, the cold front will retreat northward, the weather will improve, temperatures will rise, and there will be localized showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon. Typhoon Mikala intensified into a moderate typhoon last night (21st). At midnight today, its center was located about 1000 kilometers east-southeast of Eluanbi. The central pressure is 955 hectopascals, and the maximum wind speed near the center is 40 meters per second. Wu Der-rong pointed out that the latest "Typhoon Path Probability Prediction Map" from the Meteorological Agency shows that the 7th moderate typhoon Mikala is approaching the waters east of Taiwan from the northwest-west. It will gradually turn north starting tomorrow, moving north along the east coast of Taiwan on the 24th and 25th, maintaining a safe distance. It will enter a sea area with lower ocean heat content and is expected to gradually weaken. It will pass near the Ryukyu Islands on the 26th and accelerate northeastward away on the 27th. Wu Der-rong stated that the latest European model ensemble simulation paths are similar to the Meteorological Agency's path predictions, but all show considerable uncertainty and require continuous observation.
