The Ministry of Education's "Youth Billion Overseas Dream Fund Program" has been well-received. However, when abroad, feeling unwell can often lead to helplessness. The Taiwan Telemedicine Service Alliance officially announced today (26th) at the Legislative Yuan that its "See a Doctor" platform will assist overseas students with medical needs abroad, enabling them to receive help quickly and allowing young people to bravely pursue their dreams abroad. #Listen to reporter Yang Yu-ching's report# The Taiwan Telemedicine Service Alliance stated that the public welfare telemedicine service "See a Doctor" has been providing services in Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia since the Telecommunication Medical Examination and Treatment Act officially took effect on July 11, 2024. The platform currently integrates medical information from Taichung Veterans General Hospital, Tungs' General Hospital, Show Chwan Health Care System, and others, in collaboration with digital technology partners such as Chunghwa Telecom and LINE, to offer 24-hour emergency support, online health consultations, and video consultations with physicians. This collaboration with the Ministry of Education's Youth Billion Overseas Dream Fund Program signifies an expansion of service recipients from overseas compatriots to include young people studying abroad and citizens. Minister of Education Cheng Ying-yao expressed gratitude to the Taiwan Telemedicine Service Alliance, the World Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare for their support in jointly building a more comprehensive overseas healthcare network for Taiwanese youth, bringing peace of mind to parents. Cheng Ying-yao: "(Original sound) When young people are alone abroad, what parents worry about most is often their health and safety. When they feel unwell, they may face challenges such as language barriers, insufficient medical information, or unfamiliarity with the medical system. We are very grateful for the cooperation with the 'See a Doctor' platform to fill this crucial piece of the puzzle for the safety of young people abroad." Minister of Health and Welfare Shieh Jhy-wey also stated that telemedicine services are now available in almost all remote areas in Taiwan and will gradually be extended to correctional facilities. Today, we witness the expansion of such services to young people pursuing dreams abroad, who can also access the National Health Insurance cloud system to review their past medical history, enabling more precise assistance. Tsai Chia-ying, a student from the National Taiwan University College of Medicine who participated in the overseas dream program, shared her feelings abroad. She can imagine the fear of collapsing in a foreign land and being unable to express her symptoms. Even if local medical care is advanced, it cannot replace the precision and sense of security that comes from communicating in one's native language. Therefore, she highly commends this service for benefiting overseas students. (Editor: Chung Chin-lung) Source Link: https://www.rti.org.tw/news?uid=3&pid=216848
